Reinforced concrete, granite, 4 x 6 x 4 meter
monument for the dike reinforcements to model of a Caterpillar D6H. Initially there was a wooden model at scale 1: 3 presented to the Queen Beatrix during a working visit.
Client: Polder District Groot Maas & Waal. The design is derived from a moment from real life, in which people getting off their bikes to look at the dike reinforcement works.
The bulldozers were busy slope sliding, not an easy machinist job. The caterpillar called the Dijker, is named after the dike worker familiar with the expression 'he eats like a Dijker'.
It shows late hundred years from now how late twentieth century the dikes were made.
